Transferring pension could help potential retirees plan their finances well ahead of leaving work.
Rising financial pressure is forcing people to continue working well beyond the retirement age, noted an industry expert.
Keith Churchouse, director of Churchouse Financial Planning, also pointed out that a large number of people were also continuing work out of their own volition.
He suggested that proper planning could make it easier for people to make the transition from work life to retirement.
Mr Churchouse said: "Even if someone doesn't feel that they have significantly large assets to invest, it is always worthwhile having a look at the situation to see if the budget can be met to allow them to retire either now or if they can't retire now, when they will be able to retire."
Seeking out pension transfer advice could help workers to ensure that they get the best possible returns on their savings.
Recently, it has been revealed by new research from Baring Asset Management that ten per cent of the working population do not plan to retire at all.
